Cookies Policy
Short version
The reading experience is cookieless by default. The only cookie this
site sets on its own is klaro, which records your consent
choice for optional embeds. You can change or withdraw that choice at
any time using the Cookie preferences
link in the footer.
What we use
- Essential — a single first-party cookie named
klarostores your consent choice for up to 120 days. Without it we would have to ask again on every page. - Analytics — page-view counts come from Plausible, which is cookieless and counts visitors via a daily-rotating hashed-IP mechanism. See Plausible's data policy.
- Embedded content (opt-in) — the
newsletter signup form posts to
Buttondown,
which may set first-party cookies on
buttondown.comwhen you submit it. Those cookies are governed by Buttondown's policy. The form itself does not load until you opt into the embeds category.
Managing your choice
The
link in the footer of every page opens the consent modal. From there
you can accept all categories, decline all categories, or toggle
individual services. The choice is stored in the
klaro first-party cookie for up to 120 days; clearing the
cookie or your browser data will reset the prompt.
Categories
- essential — always on. Required for the consent cookie itself.
- embeds — opt-in. Currently controls only the Buttondown newsletter signup form.
Cookie-less analytics
Plausible Analytics is included in the page on every visit but does not set cookies and does not require consent under EU GDPR or ePrivacy. It is not gated by the consent banner.
Your rights
Under EU/UK GDPR and California CCPA, you can withdraw consent at any time without penalty using the link above, request a copy of any data we hold, or ask us to delete it. Email privacy@keepingupwith.ai and we'll respond within 30 days.
How to control cookies in general
All major browsers let you block or delete cookies in their settings. Doing so will not break the reading experience.
