Actor and venture investor Ashton Kutcher is leaving Sound Ventures, the fund he co-established with Guy Oseary eleven years ago, to establish a new venture partnership with Morgan Beller. According to the Wall Street Journal, the yet-unnamed firm will concentrate on seed-stage investments across AI infrastructure, energy systems, and deep-tech enterprises. Beller, who recently departed NFX as a general partner, brings prior experience as a partner at Andreessen Horowitz and as a lead architect on Meta’s Libra initiative.

Strategic divergence in AI investment stages

The departure reflects fundamental disagreement over which entrepreneurial phases merit capital. Sound Ventures has cultivated its track record by backing established category leaders—including Brex, Gusto, and early positions in OpenAI and Anthropic.
